Beginner’s Luck

Beginner’s Luck

I wish when I started collecting fine jewelry someone would've given me advice on what to invest in first. Jewelry is one of those things that actually can be a sound investment compared to a lot of other material things in this world.

But unlike real estate or stocks you can enjoy your investment while you own it. My jewelry collection gives me joy and security, which is the best of both worlds.

The best advice I can give for starting out with your collection is to pick pieces that you truly love. The great part is that stones and metals can all be changed and re-set to make anything. Styles will change and everyone has different preferences but like fashion there are classics and that goes for jewelry too.

Pieces like thick and thin chains, diamond earrings, bangles, cocktail rings will always be classics. I started my collection with rings because I just love rings and I knew that would make me the happiest and would get the most use in my life. So my best advice to you is that, find what you love and start there.

The Natural Look

The Natural Look

One of my favorite parts about designing jewelry is working with natural materials. Throughout my many years of creating I’ve used tons of stones and materials that occur naturally in this amazing earth we are so lucky to be apart of.

I am drawn to the mystic qualities of these pieces. The color and texture is always so unique and perfect, that other man-made objects just can’t compare. I’ve shared with you our annual trips to my favorite gem show out west. It’s at these shows that I get inspired and basically become in awe of mother nature…again and again.

As I was looking through my collections the other day I wanted to showcase some of my favorite pieces that were inspired and created with mother nature’s help. I love sharing my favorites with you guys and I hope you feel the same.

I would love to hear what you think and what is your favorite naturally occurring material or stone. Sending you lots of love and relaxing vibes as the summer is coming to end.

Chain Reaction

Chain Reaction

The past few seasons and even years, earrings have been getting all the love. Statement earrings are everywhere and I love that because I love a statement anything. But I wanted to take a moment to really focus on chains, not statement necklaces but chains alone.

There is so much that can be done with chains via layering. They have the ability to be creative and fun like stacking rings. There is so much possibility to let your style shine through.

Layering chains in the summer feels so right, something about the simplicity in the different links and the movement. Summer is about flowing and not wearing pieces that are fixed and heavy. I have paired some of my favorite chains together here to give you an idea, but you really should experiment and use what you have.

A few things to remember…scale is important. Pick chains with varying sizes of links, it’s like mixing prints, you don’t want them to be the same.  Length of the chain is also key. You want there to be a difference in where the chains hit your chest. I would start with two chains but three is possible as well if they’re the right ones.

I hope this helps you mix up your summer style with ease and effortlessness.

Jewelry Clean Out

Jewelry Clean Out

I’m sure you have been feeling it but there is always a detox-vibe in the air come January. I love to take this time to not only clean out my bad habits but to clean out my physical closet. It feels so good when you release the stuff you no longer need. It makes room of new things to come into your live.

I love to follow Marie Kondo’s method. It’s a beautiful approach to learning to how to get rid of what you don’t need or love anymore. I have noticed how well this method works for me when I am dealing with my clothes, accessories and especially my jewelry.

The majority of my jewelry collection includes pieces I will keep forever but I am quite the hoarder of shiny things and can never say no to a cocktail ring or statement pendant, so you can imagine my collection needs a little detox once and a while.

Follow these rules to hold your own jewelry clean out and be surrounded only by the things that you love:

      - Commit to letting go of what isn’t serving you

      - Imagine what your ideal style is

      - Finish discarding first, then tidy

      - Work by category, not location

      - Ask yourself if it sparks joy

Good Luck! and till next week,

      Trends That Never Die

      Trends That Never Die

Fashion month is wrapping up and I love to watch and observe not just for motivation (because there's tons) but for style trends. Accessories are a huge part of any runway and every season I pay close attention to see what’s happening in the world around me.

I can’t believe it, but for yet another season we're seeing the statement earring going strong. Of course there're some other jewelry trends happening but the trend that's refusing to die is the statement earring. There are some variations on this trend of course and I want to talk about that.

I am really loving the mix-n-match trend. That’s using two different earrings to make one pair but with a cohesive element. There are a few ways to make this work if it sounds crazy to you.

You have to find a common element, like metal, color or style. Something that’s really working lately is two different sizes, using the idea of disproportionate scale. Example, a stud with a longer chandelier earring.

Of course I've thought of a lot of cool ways to do this with my own pieces so check out the ideas I have put together for you here. These are my favorite combos. If you have created some of your own, let me know!

      Till next week,

      True Love

      True Love

This week with Valentine’s Day coming right around the corner I thought I would share a little about some of my favorite pieces that have stood by me through thick and thin. The true loves of my jewelry collection.

Lots of jewelry trends come and go but I count these pieces as those that stand the test of time and always make their way into my daily style season after season, year after year.

I chose pieces from every category because I know how some people can’t live without a beautiful earring or a statement necklace. We all have a certain comfort level when it comes to our style. This of course is true of the clothes we wear but over the years I see it with the jewelry we invest in as well.

I hope you take this as a source of inspiration for the style you have curate dover the years as well as a push to possibly try something new and add a twist to your already careful edited collection.

      They're Here!

      They're Here!

I always look forward to this time of year, because it feels like a brand new start. The Fall Collection unveiling gets me so excited because it’s time for some newness. Can’t you feel the energy?!

I mentioned in a previous blog all about my inspiration for this collection, go back and read it HERE. But I didn’t get to show you the actual pieces. That’s what I’m going to do today.

There are so many pieces and it truly is hard to pick, but for you I’m going to share my favorite pieces. I have put together a few little groups of my favorite earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets to make it easy.

This collection is truly one of the most wearable for mix and matching. All the pieces can layer well and some of my favorite combos are: big earrings + chunky bracelets (at least three) or layered necklaces (one close to the neck and one longer) + a big ring.

Take a look and let me know your favorites, I am sure there will be more than one.

      Till Next Week,

      Trending this Fall

      Trending this Fall

New York Fashion Week has just about ended and this happens to be one of my favorite times of the year. This month we will see the big four (NY, London, Milan and Paris) host Fall 2017 Fashion Weeks. While I love spring fashion and weather, I also love all the richness and layers that fall brings. The accessories are always so exciting, because there is so much more room for options, like fur, gloves and boots, oh my!

I was watching closely (as I do) and have pulled out my top four trends to watch out for in Fall 2017. It’s so helpful to know what’s about to come into fashion because then you can also start keeping an eye out. You never know where inspiration might strike.

Let me know what you think, what’s your favorites and if you loved a trend I didn’t mention.

      Until Next Week,

      The Thin Neck Scarf

This trend has carried over from the past season but I still can’t get enough and it’s perfect for fall. It’s a great and easy way to update any sweater or dress without a huge investment. My favorites were from DVF and J. Crew. (P.S. The styling for the J. Crew show was so fabulous).

      Feminine Tough Boots

Boots are obvious this season but the tough lady-like boot we saw on the runway was a great new take. I love details on boots and the options at Altuzarra and Alex Wang were on-point.

      Statement Earring

Yes, that’s right ladies the statement earring is here to stay. We saw them bigger and bolder but also subtler more delicate versions. I think any larger scale earring is gonna work, the message here is invest in some statement earrings, this trend isn’t going anywhere. Check out Jason Wu, and Tome for inspiration.

      Chain-Detailed Bags

Even handbags got a little tougher this fall. We saw some great chain detailing on structured and slouchy styles. Jason Wu and Oscar del la Renta did this amazingly well.
